Happy Little Things
Yoga (Every D@mn Day)
We do this thing over here in the Western world. It's kinda our thing. Our trademark. We take something that is deemed healthy and push it to an extreme. (Ringing any bells?) We take a giant leap of logic in which we decide if 5% of something is "healthy", then 1000% must be incredibly super duper HEALTHY. The list of things that fall under this category is varied and one item you will find there is yoga. Yoga is, indeed, wonderfully healthy for the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual bodies. It has skyrocketed in popularity over the past few decades (with...
Notes in the Akashic Records
When it is a person's first Akashic Records session with me, I always start by advising them to take notes. Everything is so easy and breezy when we are in the Records, it is hard to imagine that you would ever forget anything the Guides say; however, the details slip away, time passes, and you just kinda forget. Here are three reasons that notes are an essential part of an Akashic Session: Memory Booster Writing is shown to cement information in the mind. If you are taking notes in a session, you are more likely to remember it! Rereading Brings...
The Journey to a Pose
It took me five years to learn how to do a headstand. Five annoying and frustrating years. I had strong arms muscles due to genetics (thanks mom!) and a steady core. I had already worked on my flexibility for a few years. There was no reason for me NOT to be able to do a headstand. Every time it was time, I would slide up against the wall for support, invert my body, and throw my legs up into the air with wild abandon. Every time, I would hear my teacher sigh loudly in the background. She would get down...
Eye of the Beholder
"Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder." ~Plato This famous quotation from Plato holds more truth than we might know. The eyes, in fact, do interpret what beauty means to each individual person. My daughter and I very often look at the same thing and form different opinions about the object's beauty. My eyes absorb the image and my mind interprets it. Since we all have different minds, we all interpret images differently. If the eyes are a receptacle for beauty, it would follow, therefore, that the eyes also are a source for understanding many other things: frustration, joy,...
And Now for a Brief History of Yoga
Excerpt from Pink Panties & Other Life Lessons (Chapter 7): I interrupt our regularly scheduled programming to bring you a brief history of yoga. Why? Why, you say? To answer, I will tell you to trust me, little cricket, for all shall make sense very soon. Remember how mindfulness has certain stereotypes in society? Yeah, well yoga has even more. Stereotypes to the tenth power. What do you think of when you hear the word yoga? I bet the images in your head are something along the lines of crazy, bendy poses, clean rooms with soft lighting, and cool leggings...
